I’ve been doing direct mailings for the past 16 years of my career, and it’s become an integral part of my business to get listings. In that time, it has been one of the most consistent pieces of marketing that I’ve been able to do. A lot of different marketing platforms that I’ve used over my career have changed. However, the U.S. Postal Service still delivers mail, and you can still send emails—though not everyone opens emails.
When you do a direct mailing with postcards, for example, it has a 100% open rate. Because it’s a postcard, people can see all the information on it. If you put a direct mailing in an envelope, however, the outcome is different—not everyone is willing to open an envelope.
